The French are known for their love of fine cheeses and fine wine. Not only do they enjoy wine, they enjoy it so much that they actually have it alongside every meal. France is known as one of the oldest wine-producing regions of Europe.
During the Middle Ages, monks maintained vineyards and, more important, wine making knowledge and skills during that often turbulent period. Monasteries had the resources, security, and motivation to produce a steady supply of wine for both celebrating mass and generating income.
France now is one of the world's largest consumers and producers of fine wines. Some of the more important agriculture wine products are Bordeaux wine, Bourgogne wine and Champagne. These wines and manufacted by using the older middle ages techniques and are stored to age to give the wines a more destinct taste and to increase the value of each wine.
