French cuisine varies according to the season. So, in summer, salads and fruit dishes are popular because they're refreshing and the produce is inexpensive and abundant. Market owners also will sell their fruits and vegetables very cheap right before they go bad so they don't rot.

During the end of the summer mushrooms are very popular and are very commonly added to stews and dishes. The French begin their day with a light breakfast in the morning that is made up of fruit or fruit juice, bread with jam and spreads, and croissants.

Their lunch is usually eaten at some point between noon and 2 p.m., and dinner in the evening after 7:00 p.m. Then after the meal they will have a small dose of liqueur or other highly alcoholic drink.
